Nextcloud is designed to be a self-hosted replacement for many google services, even for services Nextcloud does not directly provide it has plugins to allow connectivity. I run nextcloud both for my family and for the family law office in two separate servers. Combined it runs about 10T of storage in this cloud system.

I use Nextcloud as a file repository, as a place to share files with public links, a place to have 'zoom' style meetings, an android/iphone cloud, and as a 'find-my-phone' replacement. There are many additional functions possible with plugins but these are the ones I use.

By using Nextcloud to provide these services I both keep my privacy and don't have to pay recurring fees to support & backup data. I feel much more comfortable knowing how my data is saved and how it is backed up.
