I have a Network Video Recorder set up at home, this records video from internal cameras in my living room. I use Frigate, this runs as a docker container inside an LXC container on my Compute-Hi server. This, at first, appears convoluted but to record at higher resolution and framerates, as well as to do inference on the feed you need graphics acceleration. Preferably Intel as the encoders for AMD are not as refined. I have an Intel ARC A310 GPU inside of the Compute-Hi server that I pass through to the LXC container, by passing to an LXC and not to a VM I am able to share this GPU to both the NVR and to Scottflix to accelerate both.
I have an elderly cat, and for a while we were battling a 'pooping-outside-the-box' problem, I was struggling to know if she was having trouble making it to the box or if she was pooping-for-attention. Installing cameras in the living room let me differentiate the times when she was pooping-for-attention and pooping-for-emergency so I could both adjust her diet and reprimand when it was bad behavior.
Using the built-in Inference I was able to configure Frigate to record every time it recognized a cat and point out the specific bits in film where we had an problems.
